Abstract
The aim of the study was to carry out a comprehensive assessment of the level of physical activity among older adults and to identify the main medical and social factors influencing it.
Materials and Methods. A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted involving 150 respondents aged 60 years and older living in urban and rural areas of the Kyrgyz Republic. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Statistical analysis included descriptive statistics and Pearson’s chi-square test at a significance level of p<0.05.
Results. It was found that 32.0% of respondents engaged in regular physical activity on a daily basis, while 40.0% did so several times a week. A low level of physical activity was identified in 27.0% of those surveyed. Walking was the most common form of activity (84.0%). The main barriers were chronic diseases (58.0%), insufficient motivation (33.3%), and lack of conditions for exercise (24.0%). At the same time, 84.0% of respondents were aware of the importance of physical activity, and 75.3% expressed willingness to participate in health promotion programs.
Conclusion. The level of physical activity among the older population remains insufficient and requires the development of comprehensive interdisciplinary programs aimed at increasing physical activity and preventing chronic diseases.
